Government transport investment can often lead to increases in surrounding property values, though outcomes can vary significantly.
Value capture is generally focused around new passenger rail and looks to share part of this property value increase to reduce project capital cost.
It’s hoped that value capture will contribute toward the cost of METRONET.
The Station Precincts and Value Capture teams are working together to develop a model that is implementable under existing legislation in the short term. Longer term options, which may see amended or new legislation will be investigated.
