Ground-breaking start for new Mandurah multi-storey car park

  • 8 September 2020

Works have officially commenced on the construction of the new $32 million multi-storey car park at Mandurah Station.

Perth based company PS Structures are tasked with the job which will increase the station’s overall parking capacity by 700 bays, to about 1800 bays.

The multi-storey car park will have three levels (ground level plus two storeys) with an open-air top deck and will be built within the existing northern car park’s footprint.

As well as providing visual amenity, the car park’s facade screening has been designed to protect users from the elements and maximise natural light and ventilation. SmartParker machines, security and safety features including lighting, CCTV and duress alarms at the lifts will be included. Eight electric car charging stations will also be included.

With the Northern car park now closed, a free, temporary car park has been established off Morfitt Street. Passengers are encouraged to consider alternative ways of accessing the station during construction, such as by catching a bus, getting dropped off, carpooling, cycling, or walking as overall parking will be reduced while construction is taking place.

The new car park is expected to be open in the second half of 2021.
