Young and emerging artists across WA can now tap into an exciting new interactive learning resource, helping them turn their creative talents towards public art opportunities on METRONET projects.
Launched during Youth Week 2022 with Propel Youth Arts WA and the KickstART Festival, the free METRONET Public Art learning modules are helping artists understand and respond to public art briefs, present art concepts, engage with community, and submit their applications.
“Public art provides an opportunity to capture and celebrate the identity of the places where METRONET projects are located. We want to help young and emerging artists understand where to start and what information to include in the Expression of Interest stage,” Public Art Strategy Lead Sarah Henneveld said.
“Our goal is to guide artists through the process by profiling the artwork and experience of other artists and give them information and tips on how to apply to ultimately encourage artists of all mediums, backgrounds and experience to get involved in METRONET public art.”
This initiative is an example of how METRONET’s Public Art Strategy is supporting the professional and emerging local arts sector, and the development of creative capital, employment opportunities and sustainability of the professional and emerging local arts sector.
