A bush tucker talk and tasting, didgeridoo performance and smoking ceremony were all part of NAIDOC Week celebrations at the METRONET office in Murray St, Perth.
Facilitated by Aboriginal-owned business Gather Foods, the celebrations began with a story about the emu (waitj) beautifully brought to life through the sounds of the didgeridoo.

Hosts Ash and Gerry then shared a selection of native plants, spices and cooking ingredients. METRONET team members had the chance to taste bush tomatoes, pepper berries and Davidson plums and learn how these can be included in people’s gardens and diet, and how similar plants and trees have sustained Aboriginal communities for centuries.

The experience was invaluable and provided a true opportunity for the METRONET team to increase knowledge of Aboriginal culture and honour the NAIDOC theme of ‘Keep the Fire Burning’.
