As part of the METRONET Gnarla Biddi Aboriginal Engagement Strategy, the MNRG have played a key role in the Noongar Place Names Initiative, which honours the Noongar people’s ongoing connection to Country and brings Noongar language to all METRONET projects.

During the tour, MNRG members explored the stations and viewed place name plaques, each celebrating the area’s spiritual significance and local flora and fauna. They also enjoyed the public art across the stations, including Noongar-inspired sculptures, murals and skylights.
MNRG member Aunty Lera expressed pride in the Initiative, highlighting its role in helping children connect with Noongar culture.
