Lakelands Station building shell nearing completion

  • 17 October 2022

METRONET Lakelands Station Project is taking shape with the installation of fluted wall panels.

The next area of focus is the station platforms, which will be installed and tiled whilst trains are not operational.

Simon Maynard is the Site Manager for the project and is responsible for managing trades, materials and logistics.

“During my time in the industry, this is the first time I have worked with live rail running through the middle of a site,” Simon said.

In addition to the overarching achievement of the project, to provide residents with a public transport option to help ease growing demand, the station will be important for Simon’s young family to easily access the city.

“This will be my local station which my family and I will use frequently. To know I was part of constructing it is something which I am very proud of,” he said.

Lakelands Station is expected to be complete in mid-2023.
